Following guide will teach you how to format your USB STICK.

hit fdisk -l / fdisk -s to determine usb drive path.

hit fdisk /dev/sdaX to enter fdisk program with device attached

press d to delete existing partitions.

press n to create new partition

press p for primary partition

Hit enter until you get to "Last Sector ...", you will be prompted to enter size of usb drive partition. Here you can leave it blank or give it a size, total size of your usb drive.

press t and select appropriate partition type

finally hit w and the changes you made earlier will be written to the disk and fdisk program will quit.
